三島 正

1964年、東京生まれ。脳死をめぐる現場に迫ったフォトルポルタージュを皮切りに、生と死のあり方を問う活動を開始。50歳を前にして大病を患ったことを機にテーマを深掘り。「生と死」に「存在」の問いを重ねて、根源的な命題の探究と作品化を続けている。

写真集『Flat』（2023年/TMG House刊）は第32回（2024年）林忠彦賞の最終候補作品。写真集『公僕』（2001年/メディアファクトリー刊）では第7回週刊現代ドキュメント写真大賞「人物フォトルポルタージュ部門賞」を受賞。最新刊は写真集『聴こえてくる』（2025年/TMG House刊）。

Tadashi Mishima

Born in Tokyo, 1964. He began his career with a photo reportage on the front lines of the debate surrounding brain death,

and has since produced a body of work that questions the nature of life and death. Following a serious illness just before

turning 50, he deepened his exploration, expanding his inquiry from life and death to include the question of existence,

and continues to probe fundamental existential themes.

His photo book Flat (TMG House, 2023) was a finalist for the 32nd Hayashi Tadahiko Award (2024). His photo book

Kōboku: The Japanese Civil Servant (Media Factory, 2001) received the Portrait Reportage Division Award at the 7th Shukan

Gendai Document Photo Awards. His latest work is the photo book From the Silence (TMG House, 2025).
